Fish Parade na EDIA: "In the Great Lake Alentejo fish go hand in elevator"


EDIA marks today, the International Day for Biological Diversity and the Day of Migratory Fish, with the opening of a Fish Parade.

ALQUEVA_800x800“In the great lake of Alentejo the fish ride the elevator†is a project that results from a partnership between EDIA and Centro Infantil N. Ms. do Carmo, Moura, which had as its motto the Fish Passage Device installed in the Pedrógão dam, being the exhibition of Pisces (Fish Wall) illustrative of the developed actions.

This project, candidate for the 12th edition of the Ilídio Pinho Foundation Award, focused on water quality issues, in the fish species existing in the Guadiana river, distinguishing native from exotic species and defining the dam and the respective environmental implications resulting from its construction and responses to the inherent impacts.

Within the scope of the project, several actions were developed, highlighting the visits to the Alqueva and Pedrógão dams, water experiences, activities about fish in the region, an exhibition of large fish made by the children's parents, as well as the recovery of three lakes in the institution that, at this time, house a model of a dam and two tanks for aquatic fauna.

The exhibition will be open to the public at EDIA's headquarters, in Beja, between 22 May and 14 June, it can be visited on working days between 09 e as 18 hours.
