A man, of 47 year old, was arrested red-handed by the GNR for stealing copper cables, in Ferreira do Alentejo county, the military having seized 2.800 kilos of that material, it was announced today.
In a statement, the Beja Territorial Command of the Republican National Guard (GNR) explained that the suspect was detained, on Monday, through the Criminal Investigation Nucleus (NIC) Aljustrel.
The man was accused and presented to the Judicial Court of Ferreira do Alentejo, who ordered him to be held in preventive detention, coercion measure more heavily.
Segundo a GNR, within the scope of this police action, another man was also made a defendant, of 36 year old.
On Monday, as part of a patrol action against crime, GNR military personnel detected the man in 47 year old, which, “upon realizing the presence of the Guard, evidenced suspicious behavior”.
The suspect was approached and the Guard found that “was in possession of several stolen copper cables, reason that led to his arrest in the act”, you can read the statement.
As part of this police operation, a GNR apreendeu 2.800 kilos of copper cable, as 840 euro cash, four gel batteries, three cutting objects, two vehicles, two scissors, two cell phones and various rubber coverings.
The action included the reinforcement of the NIC of Beja and the territorial posts of Aljustrel and Ferreira do Alentejo.
