Landed on Friday, Air Base No. 11, in Beja, the second of six P-3C aircraft acquired by the Air Force from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The ferry flight of this second plane – two weeks after the arrival of the first – is a reflection of the extraordinary commitment and close collaboration between Maintenance and Squadron Operations 601, P-3C Weapons System Management, the National Aeronautical Authority and the German Navy, fundamental to the successful completion of this challenging stage of this transfer project.
The preparation of these aircraft was ensured by teams deployed at the Nordholz Naval Air Base in December 2023 and February 2024.
It should be remembered that these aircraft were acquired under the contract signed between the Portuguese Government and the German Government, which includes the entire inventory of the P-3C fleet made available by the Federal Republic of Germany, consisting of six aircraft; conjuntos Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU); outstanding; support equipment and test benches; as well as flight and tactical procedures simulators.
