Air Force personnel began an international mission in Cape Verde and São Tomé with the aim of contributing to the international effort in maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea, through surveillance and inspection of the Exclusive Economic Zone of Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe.
Before departure for the mission, the soldiers of the Squadron 601 – “Wolves” that make up that National Detached Force, commanded by Major Bruno Silveira, commander of said squadron, seated on BA11, in Beja, received the National Standard, in a ceremony presided over by the Air Commander, Lieutenant-General António Branco.
Sea Garden 2023
The 601 Squadron-“Lobos”, commanded the Detached National Force (FND) in the mission “Sea Guardian 2023”, which ran from 15 from April to 17 May last year, and which involved the participation of 39 air force military (FAP) and a P-3C CUP aircraft + Orion, which operated from Sigonella Air Base, Italy.
On that occasion, the FND farewell ceremony took place at BA11, and was chaired by the Minister of National Defense, Helena Carreiras, where the delivery of the National Flag and the Flag of the Air Force and the Image of Our Lady of the Air took place, the patroness of the branch, which was blessed by Colonel, Deputy Chaplain of the FAP, Jorge Almeida.
Who is Bruno Silveira
Born in Beja in 1985, He has been a member of the Portuguese Air Force since 2003, year he entered the Military Academy, this “Son of Beja” celebrated in 2023 the 20 years as branch officer.
He was Operations Officer at Squadron 601-“Lobos”, and has already passed by Police Station 101-“Roncos”, during a year of apprenticeship, he was also a year at Squadron 552-“Zangões, before the Alouette III helicopters now the Koala AW119 and nine years in the 751-“Pumas” Squadron, operating or Agusta Westland EH-101 Merlin helicopter, until reaching the P-3C CUP squadron + Orion.
Bruno Silveira is the son of professor and athletics coach José Silveira.
