Air Force: Military parade and Air Festival in Beja a 3 July.


The celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Air Force have their highest points in BA11 and in the city of Beja with a Military Parade and the Air Festival.

The Air Force, as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations, will hold a Military Parade will take place on Avenida Vasco da Gama with the Tribuna de Honor to be set up next to the Flávio dos Santos Stadium. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Republic and Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces is expected to attend the ceremony.

As happened in Braga, in the Commemorations of 10 June, will be put on display, next to the Casa da Cultura an F-16MLU aircraft of the Portuguese Air Force, as well as trying out the flight simulator and virtual reality goggles, where you can watch an F-16 flight.

The Portuguese Air Force (FAP) is preparing the biggest Air Festival ever, being present several squadrons of flights from different NATO countries. On 3 July, FAP will give color to the skies of Beja!

Remember that since 2010 that the Air Force has no aerobatic patrol, after having extinguished the “Asas de Portugalâ€, following an accident with an Alpha-Jet plane, on 13 June 2009. The plane was damaged after a low-flying flight that resulted in it hitting a treetop., in Lisbon, during the training sessions for the exhibition of the latest parties in the city.

At the time, the “Asas de Portugal†patrol was suspended, the pilot who belonged to the Squadron 103 (snails), parked at the Air Base 11, was sanctioned with compulsory retirement. In the same process, four more FAP soldiers were punished with reprimands., one officer and three sergeants.

Included in the 70th anniversary celebrations, the Air Force performed, on 5 June, Air Base No. 6 (Ba6), no Montijo, the open base day. were about 16 thousand people who moved to BA 6.

The next Open Base day is scheduled for the next month, or Maneuvering Airfield N.o 1, Ovar, will be open to the public.
