As part of the efforts to expand the capabilities of the Tactical Transport aircraft Embraer KC-390 Millennium, the Air Force Portuguese (FAP) announced its adherence to the project led by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and Embraer to develop a variant equipped with intelligence systems, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR).
The announcement was made during the Laad Defense Fair & Security and marks the beginning of a collaboration focused on the development and integration of a modular mission system installed in the aircraft, preserving your multiplicity capacity.
The main objective is to adapt the KC-390 through a Roll-On/Roll-off modular kit, that allows the installation of ISR equipment without compromising its multi -mission. During the ceremony, A conceptual image of the system was revealed, that would include sensors, workstations and, possibly, Anti -Navio Missiles installed in sub -pilones, in an easily adaptable and removable configuration according to the type of mission.

The KC-390 Millennium is based on advanced characteristics such as its structural robustness, modern avionic, self -protection systems and tactical communication skills. If the project advances, The KC-390 in its maritime patrol variant may eventually replace the P-3am Orion of the FAB and the P-3C (P-3C CUP+) yes FAP.
