Air Force: FAP's first KC-390 returns to Portugal.

The first Embraer KC-390 Millennium aircraft destined for the Portuguese Air Force (FAP) returned this Monday to Air Base nº 11 of Beja, in Portugal. The plane has not yet been delivered to the FAP.

According to the website airway.com.br, dedicated to military aviation, despite the new passage through the country, the multimission aircraft has not yet been delivered to the FAP, contrary to what was stated during the visit of the Prime Minister to BA11 for the reception and delivery of the aircraft.

This is the second time that the KC-390 with the colors of the FAP flies to Portugal. A aircraft, which uses the temporary Brazilian registration PT-ZFK (photo taken in autumn at BA1), was in Beja in october 2022, when he participated in the inauguration of the future Police Station 506, which will be the operator of the model in the country.

On the occasion, the device also passed through Alverca, where is the headquarters of OGMA, Portuguese subsidiary of Embraer and collaborator of the Millennium development program.

Not the Embraer, nor the FAP informed the reason for the new trip of the KC-390 to Portugal.

KC-390's first foreign customer

The Portuguese Air Force ordered five KC-390s in 2019 to replace your aging C-130 Hercules turboprops. The aircraft has components produced in the country since it is one of the partners in the Brazilian program.

After receiving the necessary equipment to operate within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the KC-390 must still undergo a certification process by the Portuguese National Aeronautical Authority.

Portugal will be the second nation to operate the Embraer military freighter, after the Brazilian Air Force, which received the first plane in 2019. The first FAP jet is expected to enter service in the first half of this year.
