The second KC-390 aircraft was delivered, out of a total of five, to the Portuguese Air Force in a ceremony that took place in Brazil, the Embraer facilities.
This second aircraft will soon fly to Portugal, more specifically for Air Base No. 11, in Beja, for operation by Squadron 506-“Rhinos”.
The handover ceremony, in which the Chief of Staff of the Air Force was present, General João Cartaxo Alves, included signing the ownership transfer agreement and handing over the aircraft keys.
In front of the audience, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and the President and CEO of Embraer, Bosco da Costa Junior, highlighted the union between the two countries and the joint placement between the Portuguese and Brazilian Air Forces and Embraer, which resulted in an aircraft of the future like the KC-390.
It is recalled that the Portuguese State acquired in 2019 five KC-390 aircraft and a simulator, with the first aircraft being delivered to the Portuguese Air Force in 19 October 2023. Since then, he has carried out more than 500 flight hours, with emphasis on medical and logistical transport, such as the two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
It's KC-390. produced by Embraer, team to Police 506 – “Rhinos” and is an aircraft with intercontinental range, endowed with multi-mission capabilities and capable of executing strategic and tactical operations, civilian and military, from troop transport, vehicles and palletized cargo, launching paratroopers and cargo, aeromedical transports, search and rescue missions, aerial refueling and forest firefighting.
