Air Force: Third P-3C purchased from Germany has already been delivered.


A third P-3C aircraft purchased from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany was delivered to the Portuguese Air Force, during the past week, having landed at Air Base No. 11, in Beja.

This is the third of six aircraft that will reinforce the Squadron's fleet 601 – ‘Lobos’, according to the Air Force, in a statement.

“This acquisition is a fundamental piece for the Squadron’s operations 601, whose missions include maritime patrolling, surveillance and reconnaissance”, highlighted the entity.

The organization also highlighted that this acquisition represents “an important step towards strengthening the Air Force’s capabilities, ensuring readiness and effectiveness in the various missions carried out by the Squadron 601 – ‘Lobos’ proposes”.

A police 601 is in charge of “ensure the sovereignty and surveillance of the Strategic Space of National Interest”, as well as “cover the entire area of ​​the two flight information and search and rescue regions under the jurisdiction of the Portuguese State”.
