Of the dozen proposals for the desegregation of parishes presented by the Municipal Councils of 14 municipalities in the district of Beja, eight were proposed (8), reject two (2) is (1) qualified as not being a process.
The Technical Assessment Committee of the Working Group on Parishes of the Assembly of the Republic has already delivered the report on the parish desegregation process, and from the district of Beja, eleven (11), but, an (1) of them was not qualified as a process (Santa Vitória and Mombeja-Municipality of Beja).
According to the document to which Lidador Notícias had access, the proposals of the Municipal Assemblies of Aljustrel were accepted, Almodovar, Ferreira do Alentejo, Moura, Ourique and Serpa and rejected those of Castro Verde and Odemira. With the approval of the eight proposals, 8 new parishes.
The report will be revealed next Tuesday and the final approval schedule is as follows: Submission of legislative initiatives until 08 January 2025 and Plenary Session between 15 and 18 January 2025.

In 2013, with the reform imposed by the then PSD/CDS-PP government, with the “Relvas Law”, the Beja district lost 25 percent of its parishes, passing 100 to 75. With the approval of the eight proposals, 8 new parishes, in the next municipal elections, the district of Beja will now have 83 parishes.

Luís Amado, the mayor who in 2012 defied the government and “changed the law”.

Four as executive secretary and 12 as Chairman of the Board of Vila de Frades Parish, county Vidigueira, having accumulated one of the mandates with the deputy function of the mayor. When he died, he was president of the Vila de Frades Parish Assembly
In 2012, was a leading figure when the government of the PSD, launched the law of administrative reorganization of local authorities proceeding to the merger of parishes.
Luís Amado defied the then Secretary of State, Paul Julius and told him: "If the law of 3 kilometers for the merger is approved, change the seat of the joint to the Ruins of St. Cucufate, what is the 4 kilometers, contour and to avoid melting ". This position was fraturante and the government stepped back and took the law paragraph of "kilometers from the merger".
