The inauguration ceremony of the new commander of the Beja Territorial Command (CTBeja) of the GNR will take place tomorrow and will be chaired by the General Commander of the Guard, General Rui Veloso.
José Manuel Brito Sousa, was promoted to the rank of Colonel during the current year and was placed in the Operational Command in the General Command (CG) of the GNR and last August he was awarded the 1st Class Public Security Merit Medal.
The ceremony takes place tomorrow at the CTBeja headquarters, at a time yet to be defined, depending on the availability of the General Commander of the GNR, Lieutenant General Rui Veloso.
Colonel José Brito Sousa will replace the position, the acting commander, Colonel Galvão da Silva, that as Lieutenant Colonel, took office on the day 18 November 2021.
The Lidador News (LN) last Monday questioned the Public Relations Office of the GNR CG asking for confirmation of the appointment of Colonel José Brito Sousa to the position, but no response was received.
Last day 19 July, the LN stated that the commander of CTBeja would be Colonel Pedro Ramalho, promoted to the position last June, the officer having rejected this position, eventually being appointed commander of the Figueira da Foz Training Center.
