Colonel Rogerio Copeto, since 18 October 2021, commanded the Figueira da Foz Training Center of the GNR, asked to resign, which was accepted by the Commander-General.
Without revealing the reasons for your act, the natural officer of Évora, revealed on social media that he had submitted his request to Lieutenant General Rui Clero, General Commander of the GNR who immediately accepted the same, awaiting placement in the General Command, in Lisbon.
The officer arrived in Figueira da Foz still as Lieutenant Colonel, after occupying the position of 2nd commander of the Territorial Command of Évora, and was later promoted to Colonel.
At the time of departure, Rogério Copeto began by “thanking” his command for “all the commitment to the mission of training”, having recalled that during the school year 2021/2022, in your period of command, “several initial training courses were given at the CFFF, promotion and specialization, which includes four Guard Training Courses, a Cape Promotion Course and several other specialization courses, namely Protection and Relief, of traffic, Fiscal, Criminal Investigation and others, CFFF provided training to around two thousand trainees”, finished.
Also on social media, António Barreira coordinator of ASP/GNR for the South region, reacted to Colonel Rogério Copeto's resignation justifying that: “not questioning your reasons, I want to say THANK YOU, because as an Associative Director I know well what he has done and is doing in favor of the formation of Escola da Guarda. Finally, it would be a great pride to be able to see commanding a Territorial Command, and if it happens, do it in your dear Alentejo”, concluded.
Who is who
Rogério Copeto was a student at the Military Academy between October 1993 and 1998. After completing the Officers Course, exercised, until october 2000, the position of Platoon Commander in the Guard Training Course, in the then Portalegre Instruction Group.
Was, between 2001 and 2010, commander of the Territorial Border Detachments, Estremoz and Évora. After going through other functions, exercised, between 2013 and 2015, the position of Public Relations Officer of the Territorial Command of Évora (CTÉvora). With the promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, was placed in the General Command of the Guard where he assumed the position of Head of Division of Teaching/Command of Doctrine and Training.
Five years after leaving CTÉvora, in 21 October 2020, then Lieutenant-Colonel Rogério Copeto returned to that unit to assume the position of second-in-command and spokesperson for the command., functions he performed before heading to Lisbon.
On 15 December 2015, the officer was decorated, by the then Commander-General of the Guard, Lieutenant General Silva Couto, with the Distinguished Service Silver Medal.
