Beja's GNR stopped 15 people and seized 1760 kilos of olives that had been stolen in that municipality and in Aljustrel, as well as vehicles and machines used to harvest that fruit.

In Beja, soldiers from the Territorial Post of Moura, arrested, Saturday, six men aged between 16 and 42 year old, they too caught stealing olives.

They were seized 1 260 kilos of olives, four manual machines for picking olives from the ground (commonly known as hedgehog) and two vehicles.

Since the start of the Olive Campaign 2022/2023, whose picking started the day before 15 October, have already been stolen 40.177 pounds, in 14 thefts in several olive groves in the municipalities of Beja, Moura and Aljustrel, arrested 62 people, including nine women, aged between 16 and 61 years, seized 19 Car, including a top-of-the-range BMW and 11 manual machines for harvesting olives from the ground.
