equestrian patrols, off-road teams, equipped with motorcycles with 4 wheels, reinforcement of the roads with the National Transit Unit (UNT), are some of the means of the Territorial Command of Beja.
A decade and a half later the horse patrols of the Republican National Guard (GNR) return tomorrow to the Territorial Command of Beja (CTBeja), for patrolling rural areas in accessing the Air Base (BA) 11 because of the Air Festival.
In addition to these means, the GNR will have off-road teams, equipped with motorcycles with 4 wheels, reinforcement of the roads with the National Transit Unit (UNT), with all the territorial posts in the neighboring municipalities to the one of Beja, in operational readiness.
“For two months, together with BA11 and the City Council, we have been preparing the entire operation, so that everyone who accesses the festival can have essential help. We will not allow abuse outside the permitted areas” he told JN, Lieutenant Colonel Edgar Costa, Head of Public Relations of the CTBeja of the GNR.
The soldiers of the Beja Transit Detachment and UNT will be at all access roundabouts to BA11 and the Civil Aeronautical Terminal of Beja (TCB) to direct road traffic and show drivers where to park.
“Patrols on horseback and motorized teams 4×4 will patrol the countryside, to avoid any undue access to the border areas of the base, avoiding putting others in insecurity”, He justified the official.
“It is not allowed to park outside the parks created for this purpose.. On the roads of military servitude, tolerance is zero. In the roundabout of the IP 8 and even the Civil Terminal is one of those areas. Also in the São Brissos area, not allowed to park”, revealed the Public Relations.
The official drew attention to the fact that “in the “Lisboa” park next to the TCB there are 2.000 places and next to the aerodrome, in the IP “the Évora park” will have the capacity to 4 a 5 vehicles. These are the recommended places.”, concluded.
Next to São Brissos, north of TCB, bordering place for BA11 and where people usually come to see the planes, “it is strictly forbidden to stop and park. It is the safety zone for planes in the event of any occurrence”, concluded Lieutenant Colonel.
