Prison Guards: Strike postpones trial of “Escobar de Pedrogão”. Caught with 6.200 doses of narcotics and 106 thousand euros in cash.


The Prison Guard Corps strike (CGP), which, among other services, affects the transport of prisoners to courts, led yesterday morning to the postponement of the trial of a drug trafficker, known as the “Escobar of Pedrogão”, county Vidigueira, which was scheduled for the Beja Court, before a Collective of Judges.

The session scheduled for today was also postponed due to the CGP strike and scheduled for the second week of March. Two of the witnesses who were absent from Tuesday's session, because they are frequent users of this behavior, including a woman, arrest warrants were issued to be taken to court on the day of the first session.

The accused, of 43 year old, who is in custody in Prison Beja, was the target of six search warrants, one at home, one on agricultural land and four on vehicles, which led to the largest ever seizure of drugs and money by the Beja Territorial Command (CTBeja).

After an investigation that lasted six months, was the target of a follow-up operation that led to his arrest on a municipal road, but when he realized he was going to be arrested, he made a sudden change of direction in his car, reversing at high speed, colliding with an uncharacterized GNR vehicle, where NIC soldiers were following who were preparing for arrest, what came to pass.

Following the various searches he was subjected to,, the following quantities of narcotics were seized from him: 5.289 doses of heroin, 520 doses of cocaine, 410 hash doses, 57 doses of lime and 66 seeds of cannabis. In addition to the huge amounts of narcotics, suspects were also seized. 106.239 euro cash, spread across different parts of the house, in vehicles and carried in pockets.

A greenhouse that was installed inside a residence was also dismantled and various electrical materials and articles related to the preparation were seized., packaging and conditioning of narcotics. The NIC military seized three vehicles, a motorcycle, 66 caliber ammunition 12, a beast, a dagger, two knives, five mobile phones, three scales and two laptop computers.
