The Portuguese airline Hi Fly, Specializing in aircraft charters and rentals, returned to Antarctica for the fourth consecutive year.
The Portuguese company has started the flight season for the client White Desert Antarctica, with flight from Cape Town, in South Africa, to the Wolf’s Fang track, on the frozen continent, with the Airbus A340-300 registration 9H-SUN.
The Hi Fly crew described the experience as truly remarkable and unforgettable, favored by favorable atmospheric conditions characterized by clear skies and radiant sun, that allowed for a smooth landing on the iconic blue ice.
All aspects of the operation ran smoothly, and the flight rotation unfolded exactly as planned, providing a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
The journey covered 2.500 nautical miles (4.630 km), requiring just over five hours of flight time in each direction. O Airbus A340-300, used for this operation, holds the distinguished record of being the largest commercial aircraft to operate in Antarctica, marking a significant feat in aviation history.
