This year, owners with real estate in 84 country councils will pay less municipal property tax (IMI) than 2020. Beja, Odemira and Ourique lower the value.
These municipalities decided to lower the fees to be charged for private properties in their territories, according to the data collected by JN / Dinheiro Vivo on the Finance portal and in the minutes of the municipal assemblies of some chambers that had not yet reported the amount of the fee to the tax authorities.
The municipal property tax rate (IMI) to be applied in each municipality is decided by the respective city council executives, since it is the local authorities' own revenue. The tax is levied on urban and rustic buildings, applying a fee between 0,30% and 0,45% in the first cases, and a rate of 0,80% us seconds.
Of 84 counties that lowered the IMI rate, three of which belong to the district, and Beja dropped -0,01%, Odemira reduced 0,03%, and Ourique cut 0,04%.

For 2021, the IMI to be paid by the owners – and in most cases voters – is the lowest admitted in 170 authorities. Considering the universe for which data already exist, and comparing with 2020, are at least more 10 cameras to opt for the lowest rate.
Calendar
If the amount to be paid is up to 100 euros, must be paid once in May. Between 100 and 500 euros, payment can be made in two installments, in May and November. From two 500 €, the tax can be paid in May, august and november. This if the calendar stays.
