IMI: Vidigueira dropped to minimum rate (0,3%).


There, at least, 133 municipalities that will apply the minimum rate (0,30%) municipal property tax (IMI) in 2025. Vidigueira is one of about 40 local authorities approved the tax reduction for this year.

Among the approximately four hundred who descended the IMI, only five municipalities reached the minimum allowed by law, Vidigueira being one of them.

According to data collected by Jornal de Notícias (JN) which include information from 218 counties, in 2023, there was 48 which reduced the IMI rate, but despite this, revenues increased. According to data from the Financial Yearbook of Portuguese Municipalities, at the top of the table is Mértola, with an addition of 16,3%, having generated revenue of, approximately, 564 thousand euros.

0,3%- Canyons, Moura, Vidigueira, Castro Verde, Ourique, Almodovar and Odemira.

0,305% a 0,350%- Alvito.

No information: Serpa, Beja, Mértola, Cuba, Ferreira do Alentejo and Aljustrel.

Increased tax on vacant buildings

The Municipality of Beja has 114 vacant urban buildings and notified the owners. The lack of a response from the owners led the municipality to communicate, to 31 of December, the fact to the Federal Revenue (AT), which will triple the amount payable in Municipal Property Tax (IMI) in 2025.

It is in the municipality that most of the properties have been unoccupied for more than a year., in total 49 buildings. The village with the most unoccupied buildings is Cabeça Gorda with 11, neighboring Salvada with eight and, after, Baleizão and Beringel, with seven each.
