INEM: Évora emergency helicopter stops operating at night.


Two of the four emergency medical helicopters serving the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) will stop operating at night from day 1 January, one of which is based in Évora.

In a statement, INEM explains that the helicopters in question are those operating from Viseu and Évora, with the president of the institute stating that the situation should continue for a maximum of six months.

The other two helicopters, based in Macedo de Cavaleiros and Loulé, will maintain its operation 24 hours per day.

In Viseu and Évora, at night, “the respective medical teams will guarantee the operability of two Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicles (VMER)”.

INEM highlights that the device is 100% operational during the day and explains that the adjustment results from, in a market consultation, the institute only received two responses, one of them with the solution that will be implemented from January.

Luís Meira, the person responsible for INEM, said he expected this situation to last a maximum of six months, and that after the competition we return to the four helicopters available 24 hours per day.
