Five years ago when I first wrote about Artificial Intelligence (HE), in May 2018 in the article "Artificial intelligence", there was talk of Big Data, Machine Learning, CComputing Power, Storage Capacity and Cloud Computing, today it is impossible to talk about AI without talking about ChatGPT.

That's why we intend to make known how ChatGPT could contribute to the fight and prevention of crime, knowing that the Security Forces seek in the evolution of technology, new ways to increase its effectiveness and efficiency in fulfilling its mission.
In Portugal, it was justice that first started using ChatGPT, as explained in the article 4 May, entitled "How ChatGPT technology helps Portuguese citizens in marriages and divorces".
in this sense, a tool like ChatGPT could also be useful for the Security area, because being an AI, is able to provide answers to a wide variety of questions and situations, namely:
– In response to incidents: ChatGPT can be used to provide fast and accurate responses to incidents, can be instructed to identify the type and danger of the occurrence, and your location, provide appropriate instructions for an appropriate and timely response, allowing you to speed up the response time and save lives, of the victims and members of the Security Forces;
– In Criminal Investigation: ChatGPT can be used to assist in criminal investigations, allowing the analysis of large volumes of data, like call logs, text messages and information from open sources, such as social networks, with the aim of identifying possible connections and patterns between suspects and crimes, accelerating the investigation;
– In the training of elements of the Security Forces: ChatGPT can be used to provide training and guidance to new members, able to provide answers to any type of question, namely on legislation, information about procedures and simulations of real situations, with the objective of helping to prepare the new elements to fulfill their functions;
– In risk analysis: ChatGPT can be used to analyze and assess risks, being able to identify places and situations of high probability of occurrence of crimes, as well as the most common types of crimes in a given area, with the objective of helping the Security Forces to plan and use resources more efficiently and effectively. Basically it is what the algorithms used in the “Predictive Policing Models” already do. For further clarification I suggest reading the article entitled “Predictive Policing", dated november 2018 ;
– In communicating with the population: ChatGPT can be used to facilitate communication between the Security Forces and the population, as it is already used in court, able to provide answers to questions, provide information on prevention programs and outreach/community policing, and also make available a channel for anonymous reports of crimes and suspicious activities;
In view of the above and knowing that the Security Forces face daily challenges to combat and prevent crime, ChatGPT could be an important tool to help them face these challenges, so in the following lines we present, a proposal for the implementation of ChatGPT in a Security Force, as a tool to help combat and prevent crime, improving effectiveness and efficiency in identifying and responding to criminal activities.
Methodology: The implementation of ChatGPT would be carried out in three phases:
Phase 1: Training in ChatGPT – At this stage, the respective training in ChatGPT would be carried out based on the specific needs of the respective Security Force, which will include the identification of the most common questions and situations related to crime faced by its elements and the creation of appropriate responses by ChatGPT, being integrated with the existing information systems in the Security Force, to enable quick identification of relevant information.
Phase 2: ChatGPT test – At this stage, tests will be carried out in real situations to assess its effectiveness and efficiency in combating and preventing crime, including using ChatGPT to identify criminal activity in real time, provide information on prevention strategies and respond to questions from Security Force Elements about investigation procedures and techniques.
Phase 3: ChatGPT Review – At this stage, the effectiveness and efficiency of ChatGPT will be evaluated, which includes the assessment of your ability to provide accurate and useful answers in real situations, as well as the evaluation of the satisfaction of the elements of the Security Force with the ChatGPT.
It is expected that with the implementation of ChatGPT as an auxiliary tool in combating and preventing crime in a Security Force, it will bring the following results: Improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Security Force in combating and preventing crime; Reduction of response time to criminal incidents; Increased efficiency in criminal investigations; Improved identification of criminal patterns and trends; Improved crime prevention; Improved satisfaction of the Security Force elements with the tool; Improved population satisfaction with the Security Force.
The use of ChatGPT as an auxiliary tool in combating and preventing crime can bring important benefits, helping to identify and predict threats, protect people and property, improve response to incidents and increase operational effectiveness and efficiency.
But despite ChatGPT's potential to significantly improve people's security, enabling Security Forces to identify and respond to threats faster and more efficiently, there are also risks associated with this technology, including algorithmic biases, security flaws and malicious use. It is important that the Security Forces are aware of these risks and take measures to mitigate them., ensuring that AI is used responsibly and safely.
