A Portuguese Judo Federation officially launched, in the past day 6 of December, the Project "Judo in School" (“Judo at School”). The presentation was fulfilled in Primary and Secondary School D. Martin Vaz Castelo Branco, to Povoa de Santa Iria, with the presence of Minister of Education - Tiago Rodrigues Brandão e da Director of the European Union's Presidential Office Judo - Yana Dmitrieva.
This project created by Unity European Judo aims promote with the younger generation practicing judo (school age), regardless of their experience or skill, based on initiation and strategies of sports orientation.
The Presidential Office Director of the European Judo Union - Yana Dmitrieva proved "Grateful to the Judo Federation for agreeing to immediately be part of this project involving the younger attending schools. At European level, the EJU feel that the sport is a good way to teach younger the best ways to be in life respecting others and learning the importance of our presence in today's society. Right now we are working on the ground with 10 European countries and we intend to expand across Europe. Also the International Federation considers that we are doing a good job and I believe we will soon be able to present this project in countries outside Europe. I thank the President Costa and Oliveira all the work you have done on the ground and Nuno Delgado is a reference figure ".
A Portuguese Judo Federation with the cooperation of Basic Education Secretariat of State and Secondary e a General Directorate of Education - School Sports develop the project in Portugal and this morning signed the Protocol for implementation in 10 Schools all or country.
The Minister of Education - Tiago Rodrigues Brandão revealed feel "Very flattered to be in this school with the European project" judo at school ". The practice of judo is very important in our day-to-day school. All the values we are taught, from sincerity, ethic, respect and human dignity come through the practice of sport. The Sports School is the largest national club, counting on 37 modalities practiced for about 185 thousand young students. This huge school sports club has given to our country very champions. Playing sports at school is really a great life experience. It is very important to know how to win but also learn to lose as happens in our daily lives. The Federation has already made 10 accredited training actions, throughout the country, aimed at physical education teachers and school sports, in order to encourage and include teaching and dissemination of judo in their schools.
