Justice: In Beja, Public prosecutor draws vaccines against covid-19.

The Prosecutor of the Public Ministry (MP) of the Judicial District of Beja was "forced" to draw three vaccines from covid-19.

In order not to touch any of the 15 attorneys placed there, the Coordinating Prosecutor decided not to exercise the discretionary power to choose. Or, at the request of any interested party, opted for a draw, since he only got three vaccines for covid-19 when the county has 15 attorneys.

At issue is the fact that that judicial unit received an indication of vaccination for a fifth of the magistrates who work there. In addition to the Coordinating Prosecutor, the district has seven prosecutors in Beja - five at the judicial headquarters and two at the juvenile court, Family and Work - and seven more in the General Competence Courts – two in Odemira and one in Cuba, Serpa, Ourique, Moura and Almodôvar, respectively.

It is recalled that the Attorney General's Office (PGR) defined general criteria for the vaccination of magistrates: the age, health status and direct exposure to the public. However, the PGR left it up to the Coordinating Prosecutor of each district to draw up a list of the priorities to be vaccinated. No case of Beja, this will not have happened, since the coordinator placed there will have chosen the draw.

According to the revelation made to Lidador Notícias (LN) by António Marçal, president of the national secretariat of the Union of Judicial Officials, “This is a situation that is both curious and regrettable. Instead of deciding, a draw was made among the magistrates so as not to lose three vaccines from the first phase of the vaccination plan â€, justified.

Marçal accused the Ministry of Justice of “not having a strategy in the area of vaccination against covid-19 for the judicial sector, whether in the courts as a prosecutor â€, finished.

In the case of the Beja Court, many trials have been postponed, only those whose cases are involved in preventive detention and cases of domestic violence are involved. Yesterday, in the Central Criminal Court, in reading a judgment on a felony theft, the defendant heard the Judge President of the Collective read the device via videoconference from the Beja Prison, where is in custody.
