The Judge of Law Maria das MercĂŞs do Nascimento, took office on Friday morning, as President of the Judicial Court of the Beja District, that encompasses 14 judgments, being one of proximity, after the judicial reorganization of 2014, becoming in the first woman and magistrate born in the city, to take office.
The solemn inauguration ceremony took place in the main room of the Beja Palace of Justice, with the presence of the President of the Supreme Court of Justice and, inherently, of the CSM, Counselor JoĂŁo Cura Mariano, and the Vice-President of this management and discipline body, Counselor LuĂs Azevedo Mendes.
In his speech, Counselor João Cura Mariano, highlighted that “this is a difficult time after great inertia during the last few years, which did not have a diverse number of reforms and we need to make up for lost time”, adding and justifying that “it is up to us to make up for all deficiencies”, concluded.
Addressing the Judge who took office today, for a three-year service commission, the president of the CSM argued that “this is an important position and a set of qualities of a good judge and manager is needed”, justifying that if “always work with the CSM and the management team of the District Forum, he has all the conditions for his term to go well”, finished.
Visibly moved, being in a room full of colleagues, friends and family, the “daughter of Beja” Maria Mercês do Nascimento, He began by remembering that “many of the employees started in this court when I was a child”, leaving the guarantee that despite “the deficit of human resources, where there are courts with only one judge and the great territorial dispersion of the district, Proximity work is essential to our success ”, assured.

With a career in the judicial judiciary that began in 2010, at the Barreiro Court, Judge Maria das Mercês Cruz Nascimento, has 42 year old, is married and mother of 3 children, He then performed duties in several courts in Alentejo. In 2012, was placed in the Évora Sentence Execution Court, subsequently passing through the courts of Ferreira do Alentejo, Beja and Odemira. From 2019, Performs functions in the Central Central and Criminal Court of Beja, where it will continue until next July, to accumulate with the position of President Judge of the District.
