Justice: Traffickers residing in the Greater Lisbon area sentenced to 6 years in prison each.


Two individuals from Greater Lisbon were convicted, in legal height, by a Collective of Judges of the Court of Beja, to a penalty of 6 years in prison each, for the crimes of trafficking in sickful and detention of a prohibited weapon.

The two individuals, already with criminal records for the practice of various crimes, and that during the trial they remained in silence, They were sentenced to 4 years and 6 months for drug trafficking and three years in prison for the arrest of a prohibited weapon.

Luís Simão, of 24 year old, resident in Amadora, and Benedito Monteiro, of 33 year old, resident in Agualva-Cacém, both in preventive detention at the Beja Prison, from 22 March last year, where they will wait for the res judicata of the judgment rendered in the last day 30 January, were detained in Ferreira do Alentejo, in an unexpected action by operatives from the GNR's Aljustrel Criminal Investigation Center.

Strangely, the way the first of the defendants drove a VW Golf, the military monitored the vehicle and already inside the village of Ferreira do Alentejo, ordered it to stop, searched the occupants, having found drugs, weapons and money in bags that the two men had on their waists.

The driver, Luís Simão, had in his possession an “acorn†of cocaine with 11,10 grams and another of cannabis with 8,50 grams, a caliber pistol 7,65 mm, equipped with 7 answer, 165 euro cash, cell phones and wore two rings, each with a pound of gold, assessed in 1.793 euros. In turn, when “hanging, Benedito Monteiro, a sachet containing 4,35 grams of cannabis, a package with 0,40 grams of cocaine, a gun 0.32 with six bullets in the barrel, a note of 20 euros and a cell phone.

One of the weapons had been reported lost and the other had its serial number erased.. As Luís Simão already had several infraction notices for driving without a legal license and as at the time of his arrest the military police did not check whether he had a driver's license, the president of the Collective of Judges, ordered a certificate to be extracted so that the Prosecutor of the Public Ministry of Ferreira do Alentejo, responsible for the prosecution, investigate this crime further.
