Mértola City Council presented the official program of the 13th edition of the Islamic Festival of Mértola, that will take place among the days 22 and 25 May 2025, in Vila Museum.
Recognized as one of the most emblematic cultural events in the country, The festival promotes, over four days, Islamic heritage and historical and cultural bonds with the Mediterranean.
SOUK - Street Market that runs through the historic center until Arrabalde - will be the heart of the event, can be visited daily between 10h00 and 00h00, in an environment of continuous animation. The programming, with free entry, integrates dozens of initiatives in the areas of music, gastronomy, handicraft, Heritage and Culture.
Editing 2025 presents a reinforced program, especially:
Concerts of national and international artists, Including Carminho (Portugal), Bombino (Niger), Father Zula (Turkey), Guedra Guedra (Morocco), Lala Tamar (Morocco/Portugal), among others; Souk with dozens of exhibitors, open daily; Gastronomic experience conducted by chef Sahima Hajat (days 23, 24 and 25), upon prior registration and limited vacancies; Halal Kitchen Thematic Workshops, Sing Alentejo, dance, traditional instruments, jewelery, artistic collage, among others; Conferences with national and international experts on Islam, Biodiversity and Mediterranean cultural heritage; Exhibitions of Islamic art and painting; Permanent Street Animation, with music, dance and coral groups; Child space and guided tours.
More than a festival, This is a space of intercultural dialogue, promotion of historical knowledge and valorization of the territory.
