The Islamic Festival of Mértola has just announced Além Kabul as the inaugural musical show, on 18 May.
With the poster almost closed, Beyond Kabul is the latest name to be announced. Perform on the first day of the festival.
Beyond Kabul, de Portugal, Afghanistan and United States of America, merge the cultures of three continents and build an imaginary teleportation machine, that allows you to travel with your eyes closed between the valleys of the Guadiana and Kabul rivers and create bridges where there used to be borders.
With Ana Santos and António Bexiga on violas, Robin Ryczek not cello, Tiago Rêgo on percussion, Fazel Sapand on sitar and oud and Mili Vizcaíno on vocals, take this trip where time ceases to exist. All together – voices, instruments, men and women, sing for a new time, for a future of freedom, equality and fraternity, without forgetting what brought the riverbed, because rivers drink stories.
Drop by drop – from “drop by drop the river is made”, says the Afghan proverb "qatra qatra darya maisha". An unmissable show where visual artists Kaihan Hamidi join the musical dimension (Obscene) and Manuel Passinhas da Palma (Mértola), whose works will frame the scenario.
