It took place on Saturday at the Municipal Swimming Pools, the first Training Action for the constitution of the Mértola Volunteer Firefighters Diving Team (BVM).
Attentive to the various water beds in the municipality, the Volunteer Firefighters and the Mértola City Council, from points of tourist interest, some of them located on the Guadiana River (Canals/Azenhas/Pulo do Lobo, Orchard etc.), others at Praia Fluvial da Mina de S. Domingos and the Pomarão Dam, in addition to several streams and dams (charcas) private individuals spread across the parishes.
The action was coordinated by Antônio Lopes, Supervisor of the Beja District Diving Teams and also had the participation of José Carlos and João Silva, respectively, Chief and Member of the Diving Team of the Aljustrel Volunteer Firefighters.
In action, considered as pre-selection for the Diving Course, participated 10 BVM operations, due by the end of this year, the Diving Team is formed, which will be made up of 6 elements.
The corporation already has a vessel, counting on the support of the Mertolense municipality for the acquisition of all diving material, from facts, cylinders, buoys and other equipment, which will have a cost between 10 and 12 thousand euros.
