Foi publicado em Diário da República o anúncio do concurso público do Município de Mértola para a empreitada de alargamento e beneficiação da ligação transfronteiriça entre as estradas CM 1153 e EM 514.
Com um preço base de 6.225.000 euros, tem como objetivo melhorar as condições de acessibilidade e segurança rodoviária na região com a intervenção a abranger um lanço de 18,49 quilómetros e está dividida em quatro troços distintos. O prazo de execução da obra é de 720 days.
In 19 de novembro do ano passado o Lidador Notícias (LN) revelou que o Município de Mértola iria investir na reconversão do Caminho Municipal (CM) 1153, a cross-border road connection between Pomarão and Mértola, about 20 quilómetros e que o concurso público iria ser lançado no início de 2025 and without delays, a obra começará durante este ano.
The section begins at the Baixo Guadiana International Bridge, in the old mining port of Pomarão, with the main intervention of the project taking place in CM1153, in a section with 10 kilometers away, which will undergo an expansion, with a dimension of two lanes with 2,75 meters each and respective shoulders.
The small towns of Picoitos, Alves, Tamejoso, Fernandes and Monte Alto crossed by CM1153 will be the biggest beneficiaries of the new connection. The other sections, divided between the National Roads 265 and the Municipal 514, will be subject to requalification and improvement.
Considered a necessary work, the connection between Pomarão and Mértola, is described as the possibility of “scaling the municipality to a different panorama, shortening travel time to Huelva and Seville, two very important hubs that are right next to each other”, justificou então ao Lidador Notícias, Mario Thomas, Mayor of Mértola.
Sobre a importância da ligação feita pela Ponte Internacional do Baixo Guadiana, o autarca considerou que a mesma é fundamental “para garantir o crescimento sustentável e inclusivo do concelho, promoting greater cooperation and sharing of resources that will contribute to strengthening neighboring communities on both sides of the border”, finished.
O Município de Mértola partilhou o projeto com os Ayuntamientos vizinhos e após a intervenção estar concluída, will carry out a promotional campaign in Spanish locations along the border to attract new and more visitors.
