A man of 89 died on Monday morning, after getting out of the car. The accident occurred on National Highway 122, near the town of EspÃrito Santo, municipality of Mértola.
The alert for the accident was given to 10.18 hours and, for reasons that are being investigated by the Beja GNR, the vehicle where the octogenarian was traveling, north/south direction, off the road, overturned and then wrapped itself in a eucalyptus tree, leaving the man imprisoned.
Driver's death, native of Pereiro, County Alcoutim, was confirmed on site by the doctor from the Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) do Hospital de Beja, the body was taken by the Volunteer Firefighters of Mértola (BVM), accompanied by a Guard vehicle, for the Legal Medical Office, that works in that hospital unit.
The rescue and rescue operations of the victim were involved 11 BVM operations, VMER and GNR, supported by five cars.
