The bakery “Seara de Pão”, from Sao Miguel do Pinheiro, won the distinction “O Melhor dos Melhores” and gold medal in the 11th National Bread Contest. The bakery Coast, Hope, Days and John, of Sao Pedro de Solis, won the gold medal.
“Saint Michael's Bread”, made by the company Seara de Pão de São Miguel do Pinheiro, municipality of Mértola, obtained the “Best of the Best” distinction in the 11th National Contest for Traditional Portuguese Bread that CNEMA held together with s Qualifica/oriGIn Portugal.
The main objective of the Contest was to award, promote, value and promote the genuine Portuguese Traditional Bread.
The municipality of Mértola once again won the top prizes in the contest, as in addition to the distinction “The Best of the Best”, to Seara de Pão won the gold medal, like the bread of the company Costa, Hope, Days and John, of Sao Pedro de Solis.
Unlike other sectors, the bakery, namely the Alentejo bread, lived the pandemic differently and the crisis did not reach one of the main symbols of the region. Bread was one of the most sought after and consumed foods by the Portuguese, consumption of traditional Alentejo bread has increased.
Founded in May 2006, mother's family business, Dona Iria and two brothers Jorge and Manuela, of São Miguel do Pinheiro continues to manufacture more than 600 breads, that are distributed in Beja (own bakery), in the Algarve and sold to consumers. Since the end of last year, a distribution company has brought “Pão de São Miguel” to Lisbon and other cities in the country..

In addition to the distinction “O Melhor dos Melhores” and the gold medal in the 11th National 2022, Seara de Pão has already won two more gold and two silver medals.
