Mértola: International Meeting between today and Saturday at Cine Teatro Marques Duque.


Mértola receives between now and Saturday, the international meeting “Mediterranean ports”. margins, spaces, clashes and contacts.

In the days 11, 12 and 13 May 2017, will take place at the Cine Teatro Marques Duque de Mértola the international meeting "Mediterranean Ports", in which researchers participate from many countries (Portugal, Spain and Tunisia).

This initiative falls within the framework of the 9th catividades Islamic Festival Mértola and is organized by the Mértola Archaeological Site in collaboration with the Universities of La Manouba (Tunisia), Algarve and Coimbra and the Center for Studies in Archeology Arts and Heritage Sciences, with support from the Foundation for Science and Technology and the Municipality of Mértola.

The meeting aims to discuss different historical processes that have developed in the western Mediterranean from antiquity to the present day, focusing more closely the transition times when it is possible to observe phenomena continuity and discontinuity.

On the afternoon of 11 and on the morning of 12 May will take place the activities of the different visiting researchers, It is reserved the afternoon of 12 May for a discussion among all participants to stimulate the exchange of ideas and confrontation of opinions to make room for working hypotheses creative and renewing of the past, the present and the future of the Western Mediterranean.

No Saturday 13 May, will be made one visit to the main museums and monuments of the village of Mértola.
