Mértola: Jorge Pulido Valente returned to the autarchy. In 2009 was elected president in Beja.


Former Mayor of Mértola, returned yesterday to the autarchy to occupy the position of Superior Technician in the Planning Office.

In his facebook page, Jorge Pulido Valente wrote “New job, new challenges, new stage of life!”Also publishing a photo of the space that was once the office of the Councilor for Sport and Culture, in a building located in front of the City Hall, on the north top of Praça Luís de Camões.

The former mayor is a senior technician in the staff of the Municipality of Beja and has returned to the “Vila Museu” municipality under the protection of civil servants, after having held the position of vice president of the Alentejo Regional Coordination and Development Commission, between 1 March 2015 and late October 2020.

Has learned the Lidador News (LN), at the Planning Office of the Municipality of Mértola, Jorge Pulido Valente, by the municipality's applications for Community funding, aiming to raise funds for the Mertolense city council.

In 2009, Pulido Valente made history by being elected Mayor of Beja, putting an end to the hegemony of 33 years of communist power, position he held until 2013.

WHO IS WHO

Jorge Pulido Valente was born in Lisbon (Large field) in 1955, is married, have two daughters, Inês and Sara and made Baixo Alentejo their region of choice.

Graduated in History and post graduated in Public Administration and Regional Development.

In 1980 begins his professional career, as an archaeologist, in Mértola. In 1982, integrates the list of candidates of the CDU for the Municipality of Mértola and is elected councilor of culture.

Between the years of 1986-98 plays, successively, the positions of Head of Division and Director of the Sociocultural Department of the Municipality of Beja. Later he is appointed Regional Director for the Environment of Alentejo, position held between 1998-2001.

Between 2001-2008 was Mayor of Mértola
and the following year, after suspending the mandate, was Director of EDIA.

In 2009 was elected Mayor of Beja, putting an end to the hegemony of 33 years of communist power, position he held until 2013.

After the defeat to João Rocha (CDU), left Mayor of Beja, is at 16 October 2013 returned to official status, as Senior Technician, at the same time being councilman in the Opposition, elected by the Socialist Party.

Between 2015-2020 was vice-president of the Alentejo Regional Coordination and Development Commission.
