The Municipality of Mértola holds a day 24 May, by 17h30, in Hall Multipurpose, the third day of the hunt 2024, included in the schedule of the II edition of Jornadas da Caça.
This hunting day's main objective is to present some of the projects that the Municipality of Mértola is implementing, according to your defined strategy, related to hunting and its biodiversity.
This day, the Support Regulation for Hunting Areas and Hunters will be presented, which aims to financially support hunting areas that make investments in favor of nature conservation and support all people who want to become hunters. This support includes monitoring the preparation for the hunter license exams and contributions through the full reimbursement of expenses incurred with this process, to obtain a hunter's license and use and carry a weapon (class D).
There will also be a presentation of the first results of the Iberian Hare and Wild Rabbit Recovery Project (PRLIC), detailing the start of the project, your current state of development and publicizing the next phases.
The Mértola Bio Live Cam project, is also part of the day's agenda for this journey and will be released and presented to the public for the first time. This project, in summary, consists of installing high-definition cameras placed in a wild environment, that allow anyone (via a cell phone) watch live 24/day, 365days/year, the behavior of all the fauna that inhabits hunting zone territories.
At the end of all these presentations, the public will be invited to take a field trip to the hunting center (where the rabbit parks are) and some places in the municipal hunting zone, to observe how the hunting management of these territories is carried out, by Hunting School, Fishing and Nature of Mértola.
The organization of this event is the responsibility of the Mértola City Council, in collaboration with Escola Profissional ALSUD and Escola de Caça, Fishing and Nature.
