In a statement the Judiciary Police (PJ) revealed that he had, on Monday, “the arrest of a man, of 74 year old, by strong evidence of the practice of the crime of qualified homicide in the attempted form, using a firearm”.
The events occurred on the morning of that same day., not Monte do Tamejoso, in the Mértola municipality, and what the PJ investigation found, “the facts occurred following a quarrelsome relationship between the suspect and the victim, motivated by disagreements regarding animals that they both have on their respective farms, the attacker having left the scene after the attack.”, justify.
In view of the injuries caused, the victim, a man of 62 year old, needed to be taken to the Centro Hospitalar do Baixo Alentejo.
In continuation of the investigations carried out by the Southern Directorate of the PJ, who conducted this investigation, “relevant evidence would be collected, as well as the seizure of the firearm used in the attack, the suspect was arrested outside of the act of committing a crime.”, adding that “the detainee will be presented to the judicial authorities for the first judicial interrogation of the detained defendant and the application of coercive measures”, what will happen this wednesday.
The investigation is led by the Public Ministry, Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of Beja.
