Moura municipality and businessman cancel night bullfighting race scheduled for 19 July, faced with covid-19 pandemia.

The bullfighting race included in the festivities in honor of Nossa Senhora do Carmo was canceled, Moura, scheduled for the next day 19 July, in the face of the covid-19 pandemic, living in the country and in particular in the Alentejo region.

The decision was taken jointly between the Mayor of Moura, Ãlvaro Azedo and the bullfighting entrepreneur José Maria Charraz, after several meetings, where the situation was discussed.

In the municipality of Moura, where you've been active since the past day 9 April, the Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan, already registered 82 positive cases of covid-19, being 2 patients under active surveillance at home.

In a statement, the Moorish council recalls that in recent weeks “events and openings of spaces have been canceled, like the Municipal Pool and the markets â€, recalling that the traditional May Fair “had already been canceled, as well as other festivities in the county â€, justify.

The Câmara de Moura recalls that it is an active member of the Section of Municipalities with Taurine Activity, of the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities, and that may 2012, declared bullfighting as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Municipal Interest.

The bull race that was scheduled for 19 July, would start at 22,30 hours and had in the cartel six Portuguese knights and three groups of forcados from Alentejo, between them, the Real Grupo de Moura.
