Beja is one of 16 national locations still possible to be the “Headquarters” from one of 48 national football teams that will participate in the FIFA Men's Senior Football World Cup 2030.
The World Cup will take place between 8 June and 21 July 2030 and Beja is less than 500 kms from several host cities of the race, namely Lisbon, Port, Seville, Malaga and Tangier.
Following the presentation of the candidacy by the Municipality to the Portuguese Football Federation and evaluations already carried out by this body, Beja has overcome the various pre-selection phases with distinction.
Beja and Viseu are the only two cities in the interior that are on this list that is still being evaluated and has been reduced. The final decisions of the Portuguese cities chosen to “Headquarters” of the selections will be known in 2029.
The media and economic return of being “Headquarters” from one of 48 national teams is, of course, huge.
