Museum of Light: Exhibition “Higher the water” by António Cunha, in Olivença.

The temporary exhibition at the Museu da Luz “Higher the water: the Guadiana and the new translation of the land” by photographer António Cunha, will be present at the Extremenho Ethnographic Museum – Gonzalez Santana, in Olivença, from the next day 25 May.

This exhibition is the first resulting from the partnership between the Museu da Luz and the Ethnographic Museum Extremenho – Gonzalez Santana and aims to highlight the culture of the two banks of the Guadiana through the exchange of work by plastic artists from both sides..

This solo photography exhibition, by the photographer António Cunha, is a reissue of the exhibition he presented at the Museu da Luz, in 2007.

the photography exhibition, that is now presented in Olivença is the direct result of a meticulous and systematic work of collecting images advocated by António Cunha for practically three years, before the vast geographical area was submerged by the great lake of Alqueva.

Your photographs take on a new meaning today, enhancing the beauty of the Sites, of the Monuments and the now disappeared River.

The presence of the exhibition ‘Higher the water: the Guadiana and the new translation of the land’, at the Ethnographic Museum of Olivença, contributes not only to a new look at a river that turned into a lake, but also to allow the generations of tomorrow to know the past and that water, life source, bring with you hope to this territory.

The temporary exhibition “Higher the water: the Guadiana and the new translation of the land” is evident in the Ethnographic Museum Extremadura – Gonzalez Santana, in Olivença, to 25 June 2023.
