Odemira: Municipal Library notes 20 years of the Nobel Prize José Saramago.


To mark the 20 years of the award of the Nobel Prize for Literature José Saramago, the Municipal Library of Odemira aims to pay tribute, to 30 November, his patron and only Nobel national holder of Literature.

The initiative is materialized through the promotion of different activities for the general public. They will gain momentum various activities, from theater, Salons literary and book fair, directed to the general public and public school.

To 30 November, the Library receives the "Book Fair Saramago", with the collaboration of Porto Editora, offering for sale the complete works of José Saramago, highlighting the latest book "Last Lanzarote book", published in October 2018.

On 23 November, by 14.00 hours, will be presented to public school the play "The Lizard", the Elephant Theater. On 24 November, by 15.00 hours, It is scheduled theatrical show "Side B - I got up from the ground", the collective creation AL.GU.RES, from the book "Raised from the Ground" by José Saramago, with the creation of Carlos Marques. Also on day 24 November, by 16.00 hours, will start the get-together "The Nobel Saramago", boosted by ASSESTA - Alentejo Writers Association.

The session against the participation of Mário Sousa writers, Mario Rodriguez, Gilda Incarnation and Luís Contente. The last activity is scheduled for 29 November, by 14.00 hours, with Silence Workshop, By Marina Palace, a session for public school.

Author of more than 40 Titles, José Saramago was born in 1922, in the village of Azinhaga, Ribatejo. In 1947 It published its first book, "Terra do Pecado". To 2010, year of his death, built an unavoidable work in Portuguese and world literature. Among other distinctions, He received the Camões Prize 1995 and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1998. José Saramago is the patron of the Municipal Library Odemira, having been present the day of its inauguration, in 5 September 2000.
