Odemira: Ukrainian citizen on trial for assaults and arson, sentenced to a fine.


The defendant was subject to the measure of coercion of obligation to remain in the dwelling, saw the sentence passed for granted, in the face of days under house arrest, having been restored to liberty.

acquitted of four crimes, three from qualified damage and one from forest fire and, convicted of a fifth crime of fire under construction, being personal injury, led to a Ukrainian citizen, of 26 year old, resident in Zambujeira do Mar, county of Odemira, was sentenced to a fine of 260 days, no monetary value fixing.

Subject to the measure of coercion of obligation to remain in the home, the defendant also saw the Collective of Judges of the Court of Beja, give the sentence for granted, in the face of days under house arrest, having been restored to liberty.

In reading the judgment, it was argued that the decision of the magistrates was formed on the basis that during the trial “it was not proven that the defendant was the author of the facts. In the event of a compactor machine fire, next to a commercial surface, there was no proof that it had put people at risk", ending up being convicted of this last crime, but to the penalty of fine.

Oleksandr Pihul, destroyed premises owned by the City Council, namely the “Tasca da Aldeia†inside the São Teotónio Fair, burned down recycling bins and containers, set off forest fires, bush and on machines and tried to force the premises of a commercial surface, everything in that location. It all came down to drinking drinks that left him highly alcoholic, having caused damage greater than 3.000 euros.

The defendant remained silent during the trial., for which they were enrolled 30 prosecution witnesses, involving several inspectors from the PJ of Setúbal, military of the GNR of Odemira and many citizens who supposedly witnessed the acts of gratuitous vandalism of the Ukrainian citizen.
