The full and unreserved confession of the facts impacts the accusation, repentance and a clean criminal record, served yesterday to a defendant, of 20 year old, a cumbersome legal conviction of 2 years and 6 months, suspended sentence.
Moses Bonjuor, resident in Malhadinhas, Vila Nova de Milfontes (Odemira), most in Lisbon and Beja, to two years in prison for the crime of minor drug trafficking and one year for the crime of possession of a prohibited weapon.
In the first and only session of the trial, which lasted about 20 minutes, once the defendant confessed to the entire charge, justifying that “it was a terrible phase in my life and one that I left completely”, around a dozen witnesses were dismissed and closing arguments were made.
The young man arrived accused of a drug trafficking crime, due to the cannabis seized, less than 1,5 pounds, of 1.700 euros in cash, seized in a GNR operation in 13 July of last year, to which were added an 8mm caliber pistol and a reproduction of a German HKG36C automatic firearm.
Considering all the facts, the court considered that the defendant “did not use a great sophistication of means to contact consumers, the quantity of narcotics seized was not significant”, hence the classification of the crime was changed.
In reading the judgment, the presiding judge, reminded the defendant that “he must strictly comply with the evidentiary regime during the two and a half years of suspension of the process, otherwise it will be revoked and you will be subject to effective imprisonment.”. The seized money will go to the State and the drugs and weapons will be destroyed.
On leaving the court, the young man confessed his satisfaction with the progress of the process, revealing that he has a job offer to pick olives in the Beja region and will then head to Spain, Where is the paternal family?.
