The case happened 28 December last year, instead of Venda Fria, Vila Nova de Milfontes (Odemira), when the woman, visibly out of control due to inhibition of medication intake, attacked the man 74 year old, making use of a motorbike helmet, act that the court ruled as not proven.
The victim was transported to the Hospital do Litoral Alentejano in Santiago do Cacém, where he underwent emergency medical procedures, but he died in 25 January this year.
Subject to preventive detention, replaced by hospitalization in a psychiatric hospital, from 12 January, at the São João de Deus Prison Hospital, in Caxias (Oeiras), the defendant heard the president of the Collective of Judges, declare it “unputable dangerous, acquit her of the crime of homicide and order psychiatric hospitalization, for a minimum period of three years and a maximum of sixteen years”.
In the only session of the trial, the woman said that: “At the time I was not aware of my actions, given my state of out of control. I apologize to the victim’s family and ask the judges to give me a new chance in life.”, summed up.
Alluding to this claim by the defendant to be able to return home, the court considered that “we have a duty to take care of you, but even more so from others who live in society. His attacks were barbaric, One of the worst things to happen to this court. It needs to be treated”, summarized the Collective.
