Odemira and Serpa: Municipalities together to discuss issues of migrants.
The cities of Odemira and Serpa, meet today to discuss strategies of reception and integration of migrants. This Assistant Secretary of State for Internal Affairs, João Coelho.
The cities of Odemira and Serpa have a meeting of joint work scheduled for tomorrow, day 8 May, to discuss and share experiences and local policies for reception and integration of migrants. The meeting will be attached to the presence of the Secretary of State for Internal Affairs, João Coelho.
The meeting will take place from 11.00 hours, Local Culture in the recovery center, in Odemira. During the morning will be presented and discussed the "Odemira Integra - Municipal Plan for Immigrant Integration", created in 2015, and the project "Serpa Interculturalidades", presented in February 2018.
For the afternoon is reserved to submit further projects arising from the implementation of the "Odemira Integra - Municipal Plan for Immigrant Integration", as examples of action in the territory, namely the activity and functioning of the CLAIM (Local Support Centre for Integration of Migrants, that is traveling in odemira), the ST.e6g Project (which aims to boost employment activities of leisure to national children and young people and immigrants S. Teotonio), do projeto Growing Together (which aims at the empowerment of immigrants as citizens and local educators) and Giramundo project (which aims to promote the integration of immigrants through the idea "of the world movement in Odemira" and the transformation that Odemira is living alongside the growth of intercultural relations).
The goal is to share experiences and information within the local host integration policies and Odemira and Serpa, municipalities that meet a growing demand for the immigrant community.
In Odemira most of the community of immigrants originates from the European Union countries, but a significant proportion are of various nationalities from Asia, settling in the coastal strip, they are installed in large agricultural companies.
