Odemira and Sines: Municipalities have project vote in “OP Young Portugal”.
Odemira and Sines are represented in the Youth Participatory Budget Portugal (OPJ), by proposing "A dive for the future", who is on the ballot until the day 22 of December, by a group of young people of both cities.
The proposal "A dive for the future" has a value of 60.000,00 € and focuses on the thematic area of ​​environmental sustainability, for implementation in the municipalities of Odemira and Sines, in order to identify areas in need of cleaning and conservation and promote the education and adoption of practices that lead to greater sustainability of coastal areas.
For the realization of the proposal the following actions are planned: Beach cleaning with high tourist demand made by youth teams of the two municipalities with the support of local entities; courses and diving activities with students of secondary schools of the two counties to survey priority areas for cleaning activities in fishing portinhos, involving the fishing community; awareness-raising among the population, involving young people, through communication campaign and roadshows with elaborate pieces from the materials collected.
The proposal was submitted to OPJ Portugal by the young John AlfeirĂŁo, Mary Costa, Markus Lenehan, Patricia Silva and Vania Arsenic, residents in the municipalities of Odemira and Sines.
The OPJ is a process of democratic participation promoted by the Government, through which citizens aged 14 and 30 years may have and decide public investment projects totaling 300 thousand euros. The initiative aims to contribute to innovation and strengthening forms of public participation of young citizens, a commitment to its creative spirit and entrepreneurial potential. This is an experimental procedure, unprecedented worldwide.
Voting takes place online, from day 27 November until the day 22 of December, and the site https://opjovem.gov.pt (to vote must log) or via SMS to the number 4310 (addressee) and the message 81 (space) Citizen Card [12 digit].
