Odemira: Company files lawsuit against Regantes and the State.


A Camposol, company based on a farm near Vila Nova de Milfontes, filed a lawsuit against the Irrigators Association, the General Directorate and the Ministry of Agriculture.

The process entered in the Administrative and Tax Court (TAF) of Beja has the value of 434. 668,39 euros and has as defendants, the Mira Irrigation Association (ARM), General Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development (DGADR) and Ministry of Agriculture (MA), where a claim for damages and other precautionary proceedings are at stake, namely, a claim for compensation.

“At the ARM General Assembly in December, it was defined before the associates, that Camposol integrates, that will be provided 1.000 cubic meters per hectare, at a certain price and up to 2.000 cubic meters per hectare at a higher price, and from here on, the supply would be suppressed, for savings reasons, what will have happened to the company?, justified our source.

Given the large size of the production area, 630 hectares, and the type of watering, more intensive, the company felt harmed and resorted to the courts, having a source connected to them, justified that the process “aims to impede the decisions of the defendants, is under legal secrecy and has not yet been contested by the parties concerned ARM, DGADR is MAâ€, justified.

What is Camposol?

According to the website, Camposol presents itself as a leading company in the production of grass mats and vegetables in the Portuguese industry.

The production area is 630 Ha, of which about 200 Ha are of grass mat, that are grown for use in ornamental projects such as parks, gardens and sports spaces, such as football stadiums and golf courses, in sandy soil on the southwest coast of Portugal, in the heart of the Costa Vicentina Natural Park. The mild winters allow year-round production with fresh water from the Santa-Clara dam.

At the level of vegetables, the company produces: Root parsley in sauces, bulk and beaded (120 He has), carrots in sauces, bulk and baby (80 He has), potatoes in white and red varieties (50 He has), radishes (40 He has), butternut squash (40 He has), Hokaido pumpkin (30 He has), with them (30 He has), celery with and without leaves (20 He has) and sweet potato in white and orange varieties (20 He has).
