Odemira: Lack of water. Ministers received by protest.


The Ministers of Environment and Agriculture were received in Odemira this Monday amid a chorus of protests, with protesters demanding access to water for all residents of this territory.

Close of 100 protesters gathered, this morning, in front of the Odemira City Council building, where it takes place, from 10:55 am, a meeting with the various partners who signed the Water Pact in 2023, to discuss the lack of water resources in the region.

The date, at the invitation of the mayors of Odemira and Aljezur (Lighthouse), has the participation of the Minister of Agriculture, Maria do Céu Antunes, from the Minister of Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro, entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector and producer associations, environment and tourism.

The rulers, who arrived separately at the building, were booed by protesters as they chanted “the water belongs to the people, water is for everyone”. Among the countless posters one could read phrases like “Let's cook your cousin”, “Fast money, permanent havoc” and “Water belongs to everyone”.
