The screening of a cultivator caused a “very serious” injury, on a red fruit farm in the parish of São Teotónio, county of Odemira, this Friday afternoon.
The INEM helicopter based in Évora was activated for the location, that transported the worker to the José Joaquim Fernandes Hospital, in Beja.
The accident occurred at 13,00 hours of Tuesday, taking the victim, a man of Indian nationality from 22 year old, that in addition to an open fracture of a lower limb, has other injuries, particularly internally, the extent of which could not be ascertained. For reasons not cleared, the man lost control of the small agricultural vehicle he overturned leaving him incarcerated.
The Odemira Firefighters took place at the site and given the victim's state of health, the INEM helicopter based in Évora was called via CODU., who landed on the farm and transported the wounded to the hospital unit in Beja.
In the low-Alentejo capital, the aircraft landed on the Synthetic Turf nº2 of the Sports Complex, located near 500 meters from the hospital, where the agricultural worker was transported by the Beja Firefighters. From this date, that sports equipment becomes the “helipad” to be used by helicopters for health services, once the city's aerodrome is more than 5 kilometers from the hospital.
In the rescue of the victim were mobilized 13 operational operations of the Odemira and Beja Firefighters and 4 operational, including the INEM medical team.
