Odemira: Inauguration of the Municipal Pottery.

The Odemira Municipal Pottery will open today, by 18.30 hours. The ceremony will be attended by the Mayor of Odemira, Helder Warrior.

The new equipment, located in Odemira, is a commitment by the Municipality to promote and enhance cultural and traditional know-how, contributing to the economic and social development of the region, an investment of about 294 thousand euros, with financing through Alentejo 2020.

Continuing a local tradition, the Municipality of Odemira created a pottery, in 1985, which kept ancestral techniques alive and promoted the training of potters, remaining active for around two decades. The new space now constitutes a new stage for this traditional craft, in a cultural space at the service of the community, that integrates office, oven and store.

In the context of the inauguration of the new Municipal Pottery, the exhibition “Cerâmica de Odemira” will be presented. The exhibition “Cerâmica de Odemira” is promoted by CACO – Association of Artisans of the Municipality of Odemira and by ceramists residing in the municipality of Odemira. It will be open to the public until the day 26 July, available at times 11.00/13.00 and 14.00 /19.00 hours, from Monday to Friday.

The initiative is part of the Arts and Crafts Forum program 2024: Transmit the Do, which takes place in the municipality of Odemira until the end of June, and which places artisanal know-how at the center of debate and creation.
