The Municipality of Odemira has defined the global value of 1.114.141,25 euros for financial support within the scope of Odemira Creative - Municipal Program for Support for Culture and Art, approved through applications by cultural agents and artists on the individual name to the various financing measures.
The formalization of financial support to cultural agents took place on the day 3 Feb., in the auditorium of the Municipal Library José Saramago, with the presence of the Mayor of Odemira, Helder Warrior. “Cultural industries can and should be the opportunity space for transformation in our territory. These protocols are, essentially, tools so that local agents can develop their activity more safely and more sure in the future”, explained the mayor, underlined “Our goal is that this support can also serve as a basis for other applications and make each project of our cultural ecosystem even more robust!”.
Received financial support 45 Local Associations, to support artistic creation, support for activity and through cultural partnerships (to annual and multiannual projects for 2025 and 2026), No value of 976,641.25 €. Support in the individual name is also approved to 7 County artists, in the various artistic areas, not the total value of 30.000,00 euros. Beyond these measures framed in the “Cultural and creative industries” and “Cultural partnerships and artistic residences”, Financial support is foreseen in the context of young impulse measures, Artistic Creation Scholarship and Punctual Support, making up the overall value of 1.114.141,25 euros in the municipality's financing.
The Odemira Creative program aims to extend and adapt the municipal measures to support culture, with the objective of stimulating the empowerment of the artistic and cultural agents of the territory, structuring a support for creation processes, schedule, Study/Research, teaching/learning and reception of artists and cultural activities. This is one of the main tools for the realization of the Municipal Culture Plan 2030, that seeks to foster culture and creativity as a basis of attractiveness of the county.
New communication channel dedicated to culture
The meeting with cultural agents was also the moment of presentation of the new direct communication channel with the population that the municipality of Odemira created in the application WhatsApp - Culture in Odemira, reinforcing the bet on culture as a council development vector. The use of this tool arises in order to expand the disclosure related to shows and events associated with the local cultural ecosystem. For the mayor, Helder Warrior, This is a “opportunity to facilitate access and put the citizens along with the cultural activity that happens in Odemira. We live in the digital age and we have to adapt. The investment we have made to link and develop the creative industries in our municipality has to be accompanied by a wide dissemination. People need to know what is happening, We need to get to everyone.” This WhatsApp channel is exclusively dedicated to cultural activity and comes to complement the range of existing digital media in the municipality, Namely social networks Instagram and Facebook, Youtube and the official website.
