The Odemira City Council approved the Budget and the Major Options of the Plan for 2025 not value of €74,020,000.00, the largest ever in the history of the Municipality.
This represents the completion and launch of important investments in the areas of enhancing urban spaces, of infrastructures for business incubation and establishment, of public equipment, of qualification of the school stock and responses to housing.
For Helder Guerreiro, Mayor of Odemira, “2025 will be a year of relevant executions for the municipality of Odemira, It will indeed be the most significant year of this municipal mandate.†For the third consecutive year, Odemira records an increase in the overall value of the budget. Odemira evolved from 45,375 million in 2022 for a budget of 74,020 million in 2025. Given the budget of 2024, there is an increase in 10,920 million.
For Helder Guerreiro, This “increase means ambition in terms of investment and the consolidation of Odemira as one of the municipalities with a medium structure in Portugal, in terms of direct transfers from the state budget to local authorities (current and/or capital), and it means the ability to find revenue solutions that allow us to carry out the investments and actions that the well-being of our population needs and that will allow us to carry out essential investments so as not to compromise the territory's development process.â€
In the main measures to be implemented in 2025, emphasis on urban requalifications, with the completion of the Urban Rehabilitation of Zambujeira do Mar (2.ª fase) and the beginning of the requalification of the urban nucleus of São Teotônio. In economic development, the cycle of investments in business incubators will continue, with the start of work on the Odemira business incubator, the launch of tenders for contracts for the São Teotónio business incubator and the Center for the Valorization of Interior Products, Sao Martinho das Amoreiras, and the launch of a competition for the Vila Nova de Milfontes business incubator project.
In terms of equipment, highlight for the beginning of the work on the “Rio Mestre de Ãgua Salgada†Interpretive Center, launch of the coverage works for the Municipal Sports Pavilion, of EB Schools 2,3 of Odemira and São Teotónio and the Odemira Secondary School and the relaunch of the construction contract for the Almograve School Center. On the other hand, together with several projects and works being carried out or being awarded within the current community framework, in 2025 construction of projects and solutions for a new financing package will begin, in areas such as rehabilitation, urban revitalization or refunctionalization to privilege public space as a health promoter, renovation and new water and wastewater treatment systems and administrative modernization processes.
The Budget and Major Plan Options for the year 2025 they were aproved, majority, at the City Council meeting held on 28 November (with 5 votes in favor of the PS and 2 votes against the CDU) and approved, majority, at the 1st meeting of the extraordinary session of the Municipal Assembly held on 6 of December (with 19 votes in favor of PS, 9 votes against the CDU, 2 votes against the Coalition Together Fulfill Odemira PPD/PSD-CDS/PP, 1 abstention from the CDU and 1 Abstention from the Left Bloc).
