The Odemira Sport Gala again honored athletes, Clubs and associations that throughout the year worked for sports development of the county and achieved meritorious sports results. The protagonists of Odemirense sport were honored this Saturday, no Cineteatro Camacho Costa, with the third edition of the initiative.
Helder Warrior, Mayor of Odemira, opened the ceremony with a speech of thanks, where the sports spirit and all sports agents of the county has praised with paths and results that deserve to be recognized, highlighting sport as a fundamental pillar for promoting a healthy and inclusive community.
The Sport Gala was place for the assignment, for the eighth consecutive year, of the reward of the municipality friend of sport to the municipality of Odemira. The public distinction of the work developed by the Municipality of Odemira in the promotion and promotion of sports practice in the municipality was formalized by Pedro Mortágua Soares, responsible for the Social City, the platform that promotes the MunicĂpio Amigo do Desporto program.

During the ceremony, Camacho Costa Cineteatro's stage took the sportsmen, clubs, Associations and other sports agents of the county, winners in the scope of the categories of “Merit” and “Recognition”, as well as athletes distinguished within the scope of federated sport. Awards delivery began with the assignment of diplomas to athletes who have achieved meritorious sports results in the sports federations with the participation in Olympic Games, World Championships, International and European and champions and national runners-up.
In the Merit category, The Association/Sports Club of the Year Awards were awarded, Team of the year, Manager of the Year, Sportsman of the Women's and Male Year, Coach of the Year, Sportsman Revelation of the Year, Sports Project and School Sports. Each category took the vote three appointed, having been the population of Odemir to choose the winners.
The recognition category was attended by the sports figure award to Fernando Cabecinha, for the long dedication to associativism and in particular to the Sports Club Praia de Milfontes and football. After passing through several positions of the club, in 1993 He was elected president of the Sports Club Praia de Milfontes, position that holds to this day. The Praia de Milfontes Sports Club currently has teams in all trading levels and the senior team disputes the summit places of the 1st Division District Championship. This special and tribute night, The Sport Gala also highlighted the culture and the Odemirenses artists, with artistic moments guaranteed by the performance of the traditional Alentejo music group “Mira Modes ”, graduated by Pedro Silva (Classic guitar and voice), Afonso Campos (Voice), Pedro VĂ©pio (Voice) and David Silva (Portuguese guitar).
